In its first major freshening since its introduction, the 2011 Ford Edge boasts a new bolder face that borrows a page from the company’s successful F-150 pickup. There are plenty of changes behind that grille including a new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine as well as a choice of normally aspirated V-6s.
In addition to revamping the exterior, the cabin has been updated to include more sound insulation, richer materials and enhanced connectivity through the MyFord Touch system that uses a programmable touch screen to replace traditional controls.
The 2011 Ford Edge is available in four trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited and Sport. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. All-wheel drive is an option. The SEL is powered by a 285-bhp 3.5-liter V-6, while the Sport comes with a 3.7-liter V-6 making 305 bhp. The Sport is also equipped with paddle shifters for the 6-speed automatic.
Other upgrades include new 4-wheel disc brakes with larger rear rotors, standard 18-in. wheels on base models, 20-in. wheels on the SE and SEL, and 22-in. wheels on the Sport.
