Upon introduction, the Sedan is equipped with a standard 3.6-liter, V6, 256-horsepower engine that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The GXP is equipped with a standard 6.2-liter, V8, 415-horsepower engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

The 2009 G8 is a carryover from 2008.
